Final Financials

With the 15 sales on Eventbrite the gross sales were around €125, (on account of their surcharge) then after all fees it became €95 to be transferred to me. The door brought in about €130. This totalled to €225 total return.  - Booking for the venue was €100.  - The drummer was given €45 for transport from Tipperary.  - I spent €80 on transporting the PA and other gear back and forth. - Sound engineer and Videographer refused to be paid as I have helped them out many times in the past.  - I have decided against counting the PA speakons as these are an investment into our rental system for other promoters to book, and will make their value back through that.  - The headliner is being paid with a recording session in my studio worth €400, which equates to no real monetary transfer.  Total costs for the event were €225, meaning I broke even on this event.

Running of Event

Upon dropping gear to the venue at 2:30pm, I began setting up equipment. As the replacement sound engineer was unable to make it until 8-8:30pm for sound check, I wound up spending the day assembling everything myself. I own and brought a HiWatt bass combo, a Roland JC75 for guitar, and both PAs as well as power strips. The mics, cables, and mixer were borrowed from CSM AvTech.  The PA system I own has yet to have stands purchased, so in order to bring the speakers to audience head-height I had to use a chair for one speaker and the other was placed on the top half of their flight case. The chair was slightly rounded, so for safety I wrapped it in Duct tape. It looked bad, but worked. I also wrapped everything else I saw in duct tape to make it an aesthetic matching the crust punk venues of the Ohio hard-core scene my dad played when I was a child.  The power amp for the audience speakers was also placed on the flight case. Luckily the stage was about 4.5m wide, as the speakons I had f

Ticket Sales 2

In the end I made 15 ticket sales through Eventbrite and 17 sales on the door. Many of the online tickets were friends who last minute were unable to show up, but had sent messages to say that they hoped it went well and that they didn't need a refund.

So far I have made about 56 euro on eventbrite (after the Eventbrite fee for small gigs.)  The graph below shows event traffic. Red is traffic by searching for the event on the site, and black is direct traffic, i.e. The QR code on the gig poster.  The large spikes roughly correlate with  1: Initial online promotion.  2: Posters going up around town. 3: The second push of online promotion

Sound Engineer Update

The engineer I had (who was also transport for all gear) was involved in a car accident this afternoon. While nobody was injured, his car was destroyed and he is unable to work tomorrow. One of my old classmates is luckily available from just before doors, so Yordanka will be the engineer for the gig. For gear transport, my guitarist is able to borrow a van to transport gear earlier in the day, but will have to return it as soon as gear is dropped and won't be back until again, just before doors. This means that myself and the bassist (possibly drummer as well) will be left to set up the venue ourselves for the day. Luckily the venue owner is able to open the doors for us earlier in the day so we will have 7 hours to set up the venue, go home to get ready, and head back to the venue with time for sound checks. After the gig my brother will be there to load at least the PA and stage monitors into his car to get them back to my studio. The rest of the gear may have to stay overnight,

Promotion 2

As part of the final push in promoting the gig for tomorrow, I called in a favour with a friend who promotes gigs full-time, and asked him to share the gig poster to his 3k followers on Facebook.  I am hoping that this post will grab even just a few more attendees who were looking for something to do tomorrow night.

Equipment 3

Yesterday I tested one of our PA systems for the gig, which worked perfectly.  Today I purchased 5 meter speakon cables for the second PA system. Total costs for the gig are currently at €300. - €100 venue - €50 videographer - €50 sound engineer - €50 speakons - €50 petrol for equipment delivery
